Here they are in no particular order!
1. What A Beautiful Name – Hillsong Worship
Released in 2017
I think there is not one churchgoer that has not sung this song at least once in worship on a Sunday over the past few years! A simple yet beautiful reminder of the holy power that is within the name of Jesus.
Favourite lines:
What a wonderful Name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
It brings to mind the bible verse “The name of the lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” – Proverbs 18:10. There is power, healing, strength, grace and salvation in Jesus’ name.

2. Yet Not I but Through Christ in Me – CityAlight
Released in 2018
A recent song I came across this autumn in devotion time with God. A hymnal song in nature but simply uplifting to listen to and sing aloud. The song exclaims of the light and hope we have by clinging to Jesus despite the troubles, challenges and pain we face on earth.
Favourite lines:
The night is dark but I am not forsaken
For by my side, the Saviour He will stay
I labour on in weakness and rejoicing
For in my need, His power is displayed

3. Our God – Chris Tomlin
Released 2010
A timeless classic that everyone recognises. I love how the first verse starts with the miracles and wonders Jesus performed on earth. It’s a great reminder to us that Jesus’s miraculous power has not departed but is still with us through the Holy Spirit. There is truly no other god like our God. Strongest, highest and awesome in power!
Favourite Lines:
And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us?
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?

4. Oceans – Hillsong UNITED
Released 2013
My favourite Christian worship song of all time. I remember listening to song for the first time at night after a rough day which caused tears to stroll down my face. The soothing melody, heart-touching lyrics and imagery created of stepping into a storm of life makes this song relatable to the Christian and non-Christian.
Moreover, this song reflects the time where Jesus told Peter “You of little faith, why did you doubt” – Matthew 14:31. When Peter started to walk on water towards Jesus; he focused on the turbulent winds and not Jesus. To walk through the storms and troubles of your life, turn your eyes and fix them on Jesus. He said, “Take courage and do not be afraid” –Matthew 14:27.
Favourite lines:
I will call upon Your Name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

5. You Lead – Jamie Grace
Released 2011
Absolutely catchy and upbeat. My 13 year old self loved this. This was a time where I started to understand what surrendering our lives to God meant. Letting God take over and you following his path and purpose for your life. I didn’t know God’s purpose for my life then, but tapping into the Creator (Elohim) helps you to stay on the right track until he reveals his perfect will. Yes you may falter, fail, backslide but when you return to him with an earnest heart he will lead you on, on, on, on and on!
Favourite lines:
You lead, I’ll follow, Your hands hold my tomorrow,
Your grip, Your grace, You know the way,
You guide me tenderly.

6. Forever – Kari Jobe
Released 2014
I love how this song demonstrates the resurrecting power of Jesus Christ. It starts with the crucifixion of Jesus and ends with his triumphant victory over sin and death. Jesus died in our place, so that we could live forever through accepting him as Lord and saviour.
Favourite lines:
The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated

7. O Come to the Altar – Elevation Worship
Released 2016
A call to the world, come to Jesus for his yoke is easy and his burden is light. In him you will find rest, freedom, abounding grace and true, perfect love.
Favourite lines:
Leave behind your regrets and mistakes
Come today there’s no reason to wait
Jesus is calling
Bring your sorrows and trade them for joy
From the ashes a new life is born
Jesus is calling

8. Way Maker – Sinach
Released 2016
Jesus is the light of the world, the hope of glory, King of Kings, Lord of Lords. This song is a reminder that Jesus is the only way to the father, the father who always makes a way where there is now way. I always find courage when I remind myself of what God told Abraham; “Is there anything too hard for the Lord ?”
Nope. And never. Trust in him.
Favourite lines:
Way maker
Miracle worker
Promise keeper
Light in the darkness
My God
That is who you are
