In Advance (PART 2) – April 2024 Word of The Month

Welcome to part 2 of the message 😊😊 (double smiles at you)!!!

The next 3 tips are found in this scripture:

And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men. – Luke 2:52

3. Wisdom

Wisdom is a gift that God says He will give to us generously (James 1:5).

This is something I’m sure we’ve all prayed for, we hear this word preached over and over yet do we really understand what it means to have and increase in wisdom.

One verse I like:

How much better to get wisdom than gold!

And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. – Proverbs 16:16

Wisdom is greater than precious metals. We all know that people across the globe seek out these metals and invest in them. How much more should we seek for wisdom since it is of greater value. Someone can have all the knowledge of a concept or topic and still be unwise.

The best place to find wisdom is God’s word. When we make it an intention to read and study the word we become transformed.

There is so much about wisdom in Proverbs, and I will recommend you read it (I have and found each chapter enlightening).

Wisdom will be needed to make you distinct in that group project at work, wisdom will be needed to make important decisions over your future children’s education, wisdom will be needed when you need to discern if this is the right person you should marry and so on! Wisdom is vital to live as much as possible a mistake-free life.

I pray that God gives us grace for a wise mind and for Him to create moments where we can use wisdom to achieve fruitful outcomes.

4. Stature

In this message, stature refers to the quality and status of someone/business gained by growth, development, and achievement. Growing in stature is so important in all areas of life especially if you want to go to the next level. If we’re believing that God is giving us next-level blessings, we must put in the work, prepare and be ready.

There are a few areas to look at:

  • Refine yourself: appearance, wardrobe style, physical activity, nutrition etc., spiritual walk with God
  • Adopt a successful mindset: change the way you view your circumstances, get rid of limiting beliefs!
  • Cultivate emotional intelligence: managing your own emotions and others around you makes you an indispensable human in all settings!
  • Choose excellence: whatever you put your hand to, do the best with what you know and have!
  • Keep learning: new skills, new interests, new hobbies make you multifaceted!

These are just a few areas, perhaps you can note your own areas.

Sometimes you may think – I’m good at this but there is no harm in re-visiting certain skills.

For example, I have been recently taking communication courses. I thought I’m good at communication, but I humbled myself and realised I could be a better active listener.

Growing in stature ‘In Advance’ of the appointed blessings will require humility. Let’s remember:

And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted – Matthew 23:12

5. Favour

Favour is also known as grace.

Favour with God is when He shows His delight in you. Favour with men (mankind, i.e. men and women) is much harder and I remember Apostle Joshua Selman defining it as this – ‘when you obtain access to the hearts and minds of men’.

All in all, favour comes from God and God uses men to favour and bless us.  Receiving the appointed blessing will come from God through men.

For example, you may not meet all the requirements but somehow the estate agent wants to help you secure the house or you’re in your season of meeting your spouse and they tick all the godly boxes and take a deep liking to you and show this through consistent thoughtfulness and care.

We can position ourselves for favour. Let us remember Jesus grew in favour with God and with men. You can’t have one without the other, both are needed for the appointed blessing.

To grow in favour with God, we must love, honour, obey, respect and please Him in our relationship with Him.

To grow in favour with men, we must work on possessing admirable qualities that make us stand out for preferential treatment (preferred and chosen). When you have admirable qualities (respectful, honest, trustworthy, compassionate, humble, friendly, kind, resilient, accountable, keep your word) there will be people who will look at you and just love you, support you, be loyal to you.

Additionally, it will lead to strategic relationships, divine connections and open doors.

We have seen what favour did for Mary, Joseph, Daniel, Esther and so many others in the Bible.

Thanks for reading and I hope this has really encouraged you to keep believing and view your waiting season with great excitement as you put these tips into practice.
