February 2021 Word of The Month – God’s faithfulness in affliction

Dear lovely reader,

I hope this post finds you well and happy. Thankful that you and I have made it to the second month of 2021! I hope you all are achieving your dreams and goals day by day. With still a lot uncertainty at the moment, some of us may still be feeling weary and beat down by the despair of 2020.

Today I want to encourage you. Whatever situation you are facing please continue to remain hopeful!

I came across this the other day and thought how true this is:

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick” – Proverbs 13:12

A lot of us including myself are waiting on blessings or the promises of God. Perhaps you have been or are currently in a situation which has caused hurt, fear, anxiety or shame. Whatever you have been through in the past is enough to burden you but also on top of that, the process of waiting can even be more burdensome. In a time like this, it is hard to hold onto hope with all we see around us. Sometimes I feel like every day is the same. However, we have to choose how we view each day of waiting for breakthrough.

An African proverb and something that has been quoted by many is:

As long as there is life, there is hope.

This is a great thought to start the day however you are feeling. There is more to come in your life! Mountains and valleys! Maybe you’re in a valley season of affliction and the only hope that can assure you of a better future is found in the word of God. Throughout the Bible, God allows and uses suffering to bring us closer to Him. He wants us to trust him, build up our faith in him, find peace and joy only in His presence. In affliction, our hearts, minds and souls become strengthened in the knowing of His mercy and love. You know that God is so loving and gracious, that He will not leave you in despair and dejection forever.

Lovely reader, God is using this time to build up your character for His glory that is to be revealed in your life!

“The God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, will PERFECT, ESTABLISH, STRENGTHEN and SETTLE you” – 1 Peter 5:10

Lovely reader, remain hopeful as you transition from suffering to your glory season. Fix your eyes on Jesus – the pioneer and perfecter of your faith! The blessing is coming!

And just like the psalmist penned many years ago, you will also say to God – “In faithfulness You have afflicted me” – Psalm 119:75.
