Dear Lovely Reader,
I hope this post finds you well and at peace.
Continuing on the journey of knowing WHO WE ARE by loving God.
The next step is to:
Love the Lord God with all your soul
By loving God with our hearts and minds, we are aligning our inner person to the standards of God’s love, mercy, grace, righteousness, justice, peace and hope.
As these standards form within us, goodness (an upright heart and life) which is the root of good character continues to develop. This is the best as it withstands any situation forever. When we choose to love the lord with our soul, goodness which is the root of Christ-like character we display will be magnified even further.
The concept of the soul has been a struggle for me to grasp at times – some says it’s your identity, personality, character but from what I gather partly from the Bible, the soul expresses our humanity and emotions to others and God.
The basis of tips I’ve learnt comes from the first line of the song of Mary, the virgin mother of Jesus Christ (How fitting for this time! :))
“And Mary said: My soul magnifies the Lord” – Luke 1:46
The soul expresses the Lord in us.
To magnify the Lord is to exalt, glorify Him and His name.
Steps to love the Lord with all your soul:
1.Give your life to Christ
Since the soul is how we express our humanity – emotions, benevolence and will, we can’t do it without giving our life to the creator of our soul. This is how we find rest in our soul.
Since what we say has power to uplift or tear down, it is so important that we always speak life to others since:
“Pleasant words are like honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones” – Proverbs 16:24
Good character is not only what we say but also what we do. The goodness of God within us will not just be about doing good works for others to see, to get recognition and feel proud. It will simply be because it is the right thing to do.
As the Lord is good no matter what season, we too will be able to express the steadfast nature of God which endures forever!
“The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; He who keeps his way preserves his soul” – Proverbs 16:17
This is all for God’s glory.
When we choose and make the conscious effort to love God with everything within us, we are becoming one with Him. The wonderful character traits of God will start to develop and be strengthened in us.
God is not looking for perfection, when you come to Him, He will perfect you.
From my family to yours: Merry Christmas and wishing you all everlasting joy!
Peace and every good blessing be yours in Jesus Name. Amen
