Dear Lovely Reader,
I hope you are well and have a happy day when you read this.
Here is a quick word of encouragement and point of action I have realised is important to take as we approach the end of 2021.
This past week, the word “debris” has been on my mind and I came across this verse:
“Then the priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD to cleanse it, and brought out all the debris that they found in the temple of the Lord” – 2 Chronicles 29:16
This verse is drawn out from the reign of King Hezekiah, where he ordered priests and Levites to cleanse the temple of the Lord and restore worship. For more context, read – 2 Chronicles chapter 29: 3-36 😊
Obviously, the order of their day was very different to ours but there are still valuable insights that can be drawn out and applied to our own lives.
The Bible says that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and just like a temple building needs cleansing from time to time – so do we. Our mind, heart and soul need to be free from negativity.
Going back to the word debris, we see that it means:
scattered pieces of rubbish and remains, remains of something broken, destroyed or thrown away.
These remains are constant reminders of the past. It is really difficult for our mind to let go the past, especially negative situations as unknowingly we allow the negativity to become our identity.
I believe as we are stepping into new days/weeks and the last new month of year – God wants to bless us with breakthroughs in different areas.
Some of us have already experienced many breakthroughs but haven’t fully grasped it because of the debris. We have to remember not all breakthroughs are materialistic and sometimes breakthrough starts with a change in our emotions and actions before a physical gift!
Here are a few tips that you and I can work on to remove any remaining debris from our lives once and for good! Let’s go 😊
Tip 1:
Forgive yourself and your offenders daily – morning and night
Remember forgiveness really is for YOU to FREE YOURSELF of toxic past hurt and offenders’ actions controlling your emotions. Free yourself to receive the peace of God. Let Go and Let God.
Tip 2:
Appreciate you gained a valuable lesson
You are not who you were back then. Even you’re not who you were last week. One good thing about life is that you are EVOLVING to become the BEST YOU. View the situation from a neutral view – God’s view which is the best! Counter the negativity with recalling to mind what you’ve learnt and how you are better person now.
A favourite verse of mine I go back to when I feel myself starting to go down that negative rabbit hole is:
“For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will he withhold from those who walk uprightly”– Psalm 84:11
Tip 3:
Show compassion to yourself
Appreciate the gains you make as you remove the debris from your heart and mind. I know it’s not easy but with the daily receiving of God’s mercy you’ll be able to show mercy to yourself and view the past not as your identity but a part of your journey.
Achieve inner freedom and peace by letting go and open yourself to newness.
Hopefully these tips prepare us for the newness that is about to come into our lives.
Cleansing out the debris certainly helped King Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Judah as “all the people rejoiced that God had prepared the people, since the events took place so suddenly” – 2 Chronicles 29:36.
This will be the same for us! Miraculous events are about to take place so suddenly 😉
